Restoration Project Results

Photographs were taken by drone every year since the restoration in August of 2020. In February of 2021, a week-long freeze killed most of the aboveground parts of the huisache shrubs. Since then, the huisache have resprouted from the trunks or roots.

The US Drought Monitor for Guadalupe County over the last 24 years is shown here. The periods of drought over the past few years are likely to be affecting the restoration process. The photos shown below for 2021 illustrate the lack of vegetation after the freeze and during severe drought.
