At the western edge of the ranch, native prairie grasses such as little bluestem and Indian grass dominate a hillside. This may be the only remnant of Blackland Prairie in Guadalupe County. The Weston Ranch hosted a field trip during the annual symposium of the Native Plant Society of Texas in October 2024. Members of the Weston family, Texas Lutheran University Biology Department, and Texas State University Wildlife Biology Department hosted the visitors on a hike through the prairie.
